BH-WD II - Blondeenya Hamdidj Wandering Didge II

This Wandering Didge was contributed by A.J. Reis,... aka, Hammie. It's a bareback instrument made from maple wood and very lightweight, with a serpentine look to it. On the bell end, are three rows of small dots: a row each of black, red, and yellow.

Wood: Maple Length: 66"
Mouthpiece: 1 3/8" Bell: 4 1/2"
Key: C

PARTICIPANTS COMMENTS:

DAVID: For me, playing the 'Hamdidj' has been a lesson in subtlety as it can be overpowered by my strong rhythmic style so it forced me to turn inward and work on expression instead of dynamics. Lower still (than any of the other WD's), in the key of C, it has good back pressure and a very pleasing vocal response that allows the instrument to sing. It is very lightweight, which makes it easy to perform with without having to use a stand. The 'Hamdidj' responds well to my straight ahead playing style but I could not get it to play when trying a side saddle mouth position. Since most of my playing is done in the straight ahead position this was not a problem but it was a bit frustrating since I'm trying to work on my side saddle technique.

After spending an hour or so recording a WD II submission track David had this to say...
Hey... this didj records great... crisp, articulate and clear even with inexpensive recording equipment... very impressive. Using this didge in the studio environment has greatly enhanced my opinion of this Wandering Didge.
